We are a Charity, so that means we are governed by a Board of Trustees or a Committee. Our Committee approves or denies all financial decisions. Management over sees the daily running’s of the charity, and the Committee ensures they are following the values of the charity. At Carers Choice we have a Committee, two Managers, an Administrator, a Social and Fundraising Co-Ordinator and a team of Support Workers to ensure the smooth and effective running of our amazing Charity. Below is a framework of how our team works!
Meet the Office Team!
My name is Paul Greenstreet, and I am just introducing myself as one of the joint Managers alongside my colleague Karen Ruby. Prior to working for Carers Choice, I worked for Kent County Council Services for 23 years predominantly supporting and assisting people with learning difficulties, Autism and Mental health issues. My working ethics have always been for the wellbeing of the clients and the clients’ families. Ensuring that independence and empowering both to have an active role in what they would like from the service. Having a good relationship and good communication with families is imperative as this results in tailoring the best service possible for the client and helping towards making any possible misjudgments preventable.
My name is Karen Ruby and I am Paul Greenstreet’s fellow manager. I have been on the Board of Trustees for Carers Choice for approximately 4 years, prior to my appointment, so I already have a good knowledge of the charity and the ethos it works to. My working life began in the financial services industry and later progressed on to working with children under the age of 8 in a special needs local authority run nursery and at a local primary school. My eldest son (29) is on the autistic spectrum, so I have learnt a lot about this particular disability over the years, but I am keen to learn about others and broaden my knowledge. I have also dealt with mental health issues due to my youngest child suffering with anxiety and depression for many years.
My name is Lesley Payne, and I am the Finance and Administration Officer for Carers Choice. I have worked in the office for just over 9 years. I have been the main point of contact with clients, for payments and enquiries. I really enjoy chatting with all of the clients over the years. I am looking forward to the future of the charity, with exciting times ahead.
My name is Eleanor Collins and I have been part of Carers Choice for several years. Firstly as a support worker with clients, then as a member of the Committee and now I am the Fundraising, Events and Administration Officer and a support worker. My role involves looking after the social media and website as well as organising all of our events, clubs, trips and fundraising. It is our aim to ensure that our services are targeted to meet our clients’ needs.
Meet Our Support Workers!
“Its the best job I have ever had ! Rewarding! Makes me happy when I know the person has had a good time and I know I’ve made a difference to their day!” Kerry Thomas.
“Being a support worker for Carers Choice can be rewarding on many levels. I like the fact that I can help someone to be independent and change their life. It can also be a challenging job, so you need skills, patience, compassion and understanding. I’ve been a support worker for nearly 9 years, and I hope to be one for many more.” Edyta Stickland.
